Quantitative investment leverages mathematical and statistical models for decision-making in the realm of finance. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have profoundly reshaped the landscape of finance and investment. The rise of quantitative investment has garnered considerable attention from investors and has become an integral component of many financial investment systems. This presentation aims to introduce the fundamental concepts and methodologies of AI and ML, exploring their applications in quantitative investment. I will present the comprehensive workflow of developing a deep learning-based trading system for stock prediction, discussing performance evaluation metrics and limitations. The talk will delve into the opportunities and challenges inherent in quantitative investment, providing insights into the evolving dynamics of this sophisticated approach to financial decision-making.

量化投资是一种运用数学和统计模型进行金融决策的方法。近年来，人工智能（AI）和机器学习（ML）的最新进展深刻地改变了金融和投资领域的格局。量化投资的崛起引起了广泛关注，并已成为许多金融投资体系不可或缺的组成部分。本讲座的目标是介绍人工智能和机器学习的基本概念和方法，以及它们在量化投资中的应用。讲座将以实例展示如何开发基于深度学习的股票预测交易系统的完整工作流程，同时讨论绩效评估指标及其局限性。讲座将深入探讨量化投资所面临的机遇和挑战，分享这一复杂的金融决策方法的最新发展。

主讲人简介

Dr. Chaoyang Zhang is a tenured full professor of computer science in the School of Computing at the University of Southern Mississippi and has supervised fifteen Ph.D. students. He was the Director of School of Computing from 2008 to 2014, leading the research and teaching of three academic programs including computer science, information technology and electronic engineering. His research includes data mining, machine learning, deep learning, big data analytics and their applications in various fields. Dr. Zhang’s research has been supported by U.S. National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, National Institute of Health, National Academy of Science, etc. Dr. Zhang has published more than one hundred peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers and received the Sylvia Sorkin Greenfield Award. Dr. Zhang has been very active in academic service and leadership. He served on several National Science Foundation panels. He also severed as 2010 ACM-BCB Steering Committee Co-Chair and 2009 IJCBS conference program committee chair. Dr. Zhang was elected to serve as President of the U.S. Midsouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS) in 2014-2015 and he received MCBIOS Academic Service Award in 2018.

张朝阳博士是南密西西比大学计算学院计算机科学终身教授。2008年至2014年，他担任计算学院院长，领导计算机科学、信息技术和电子工程等三个学术项目的研究和教学。他的研究包括数据挖掘、机器学习、深度学习、大数据分析及其在各个领域的应用。张博士于2014-2015年当选为美国MCBIOS会长，并于2018年获得MCBIOS学术服务奖。
